Today we are hiring a Remote/Hybrid Mid-Level Substation Design Engineer for our client in Syracuse, NY.
This exclusive company of Engineers is currently seeking a mid-level Electrical Engineer with experience in substation design (or equivalent). This position is in the Power Delivery Substation Department of their Syracuse, New York office. An in-office and/or hybrid work environment is preferred, however a remote role may be considered and is dependent on the individual’s level of experience and proven ability to work remotely. Responsibilities include:
Develop Substation layout drawings including, plan and elevations, yard layouts, grounding, grounding details, raceway, raceway details, control building layouts, cable lists, and material lists on new and existing substations.
Develop Substation one lines, three lines, Aux AC Power Systems, DC Power Systems, DC Schematics, SCADA and Communications Systems, Relay Panel Layouts, Equipment Wiring, and Cable Schedules for new and existing substations.
Perform engineering calculations & prepare reports.
Prepare equipment specifications, for substation equipment, components, and construction.
· You must have experience on various substation projects from 15kV up to 500kV and/or a strong understanding of electrical distribution systems.
· Experience with substation design and IEEE/ANSI standards.
· Must have strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills in order to work effectively with internal team members and external client personnel.
· Must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
· Managerial and leadership skills a plus.
Advanced Degree strongly preferred.
EIT or ability to obtain within 6-12 months of hire.
· Professional Engineering license (PE) strongly preferred, or ability to sit for the exam within 6 months.
5 years progressive experience in design and engineering with power distribution and/or high voltage substations.
Experience on Renewable (Wind, Solar & Energy Storage) will be considered as an asset.
Commitment to driving strong business performance, continuous improvement, and best practices.
Hands on experience in AUTOCAD & MicroStation will be considered as an asset.

Salary DOE:
The pay range for this position is $75k – $95k per year; however, base pay may be higher or lower depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
This figure does not include additional compensation such as health benefits, vacation, 401k, etc. EOE, including disability/vets
